Benefits of Membership

We receive bulletins, news releases, calls for entry, trade publications and newsletters from craft organizations across the country, which we have available in our office, and pass on to our members through our weekly online News bulletin and our print newsletter. We also refer countless callers and visitors to our member craftspeople with requests ranging from individual commissions, to government gift bank purchases, to corporate recognition trophies.

Craft Nova Scotia also promotes our members and their work to the news media, and responds to media requests for information on Nova Scotia craft and craftspeople.

We represent the interests of Nova Scotia’s craft community on a variety of boards and committees. We also lobby on behalf of craftspeople regarding proposed legislative or regulatory changes which could have an impact on their creative and/or business lives.

Juried members are eligible to participate in all retail opportunities – online Designer Craft Shop, Summer & Winter markets, Halifax Convention Center’s Shop Local Pop-Ups, future retail partnerships with Build NS and more!

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with the Halifax Convention Center to offer our members a paid opportunity to participate in the Halifax Convention Centre’s Local Pop Up program.

During conventions and events, the Halifax Convention Centre will host a Local Pop-Up market in the Argyle Atrium where delegates and the general public can meet the makers and buy their wares. Participating members will be provided with a 6-foot x 3-foot table (with tablecloth), wi-fi, electricity and parking. Members will be compensated $300 for participating. We will also offer a milage fee for members who are located 50 km or further from the Halifax Convention Centre. The Pop Up Markets may be 2-3 hours long, times may vary depending on the event.
