5440 Spring Garden Rd, Halifax, NS

Join us as Andrea Tsang Jackson shares the making of In Conversation, a public art installation located at the Summer Street Parkade in Halifax.

In Conversation shares stories from or about Ida Simon, Daurene Lewis & Rose Fortune, Annie-Rose & Gérard Deveau, Mary MacLean, and other unknown makers. It intertwines culture and craft, using a public parking building as a blank canvas for telling these individuals’ experiences and stories.

This event is free and all are welcome to attend.

ANDREA TSANG JACKSON is a textile artist, quilt designer, author and teacher. After working in various design fields and settings ranging from architecture to museums, the quilting medium called to her as a way to celebrate community and collaboration and explore ideas of belonging. The language of quilts and the rich history of quilting heavily influence her practice; she sees it as an extension of community across time. Andrea strives to push the limits of the quilting medium by exploring scale and dimension and moving traditionally domestic objects into the public realm.

Andrea’s forthcoming book with Nine Ten Publications explores aspects of creative practice, specifically for quiltmakers. She lives in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia.
