Product Assessment

Product Assessment

Ready to make waves at Craft Nova Scotia markets? It all begins with submitting your work for a product assessment.

A product assessment is an evaluation or examination of a product to determine its quality, functionality, performance, and compliance with specific standards or requirements. It involves a detailed analysis of various aspects of the product, such as its design, materials used, manufacturing process, durability, safety, and overall suitability for its intended purpose.

A committee comprised of craftspeople covering various artistic mediums review the applications. Maker Members of Craft Nova Scotia can apply to have their work juried without any additional fees.

To undergo assessment, please submit 3-6 crafted items that reflect your production line or artistic style. If your creations span different mediums or techniques, provide samples representing each variation. Applications must also submit a written application. Scroll down to review our current submission guidelines.

Please note that Craft Nova Scotia accepts the standard / product assessments jury results from our fellow craft organizations:

  • Craft New Brunswick
  • PEI Craft Council
  • Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador
  • Mawi’Art
  • Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design

If you have gone through an assessment with one of the above organizations you do not need to resubmit to Craft Nova Scotia.

Craft Nova Scotia has temporarily paused the review of Master Artisan applications as we carefully evaluate the underlying intent and objectives of the program. This pause allows us the opportunity to ensure alignment with our mission of supporting and recognizing excellence in craftsmanship across Nova Scotia. We remain dedicated to fostering a program that reflects our commitment to artisans and the broader community, and look forward to sharing updates as we progress.
